Re-Deco…a new view from Lladro by Jamie Hayon

Jaime Hayon, Lladro’s new Art Director for 4 months designed the Re-Deco collectionThe Lladró Re-Deco collection creates a new interpretation of its traditional figurines through new ways of decoration. A new perception, created by a decorative twist to Lladró´s classic figurines, without losing essence of the traditional Lladró work. Underpinning this new initiative is the idea that any classical piece can evolve thanks to a new decoration, taking on a new meaning.

Three ideas, one goal
To enable this new perspective of Lladró pieces, we have addressed the idea of décor from three different perspectives:
The first concept consists of starting out with a white porcelain figurine, either gloss or matt, and decorating it with platinum color, which can also be in gloss or matt. The idea is to confer a more sculptural dimension to the piece, adding new life through this metallic color. The platinum decoration adds a touch of sophistication, not so much in terms of color or shape, but thanks to the neutralization it achieves by undressing the sculpture and thus brings out all the natural qualities of the pieces. The touches of platinum in gloss or matt enhance the painstaking attention to detail in Lladró such as the flower petals or pistils.
The second decorative approach is to shade the colors of the piece to take them to an intermediary point between accentuated tones and white or between gloss and matt. Though always starting out from Lladró’s usual spectrum of colors, we are updating them to increase their applications in interior design. Besides involving a laborious process, this technique is a step forward in the modernization of the style of the pieces.
And as the third option, we have monochromatic figurines, showcasing a new effect and a new meaning. Without forsaking their symbolism, this technique accentuates the decorative qualities of the figurines. At the same time, it allows for various versions of one classical Lladró piece, increasing the choice and the possibilities of seducing new customers.
In addition the Re-Deco collection also includes new wooden stands lacquered in different colors, designed to enhance the decorative aspect of these high quality porcelain pieces, in a much more sophisticated fashionvia designws
